She woke up and rubbed the sleep out of her eyes. She was more resolute than ever to carry out her plan. She got dressed and made her way into the living room. She was happy to see that Lucas had left. He put a note on the table stating he had things to do. She packed the diaper bag and made a phone call. Luckily, Caroline was at home and agreed to watch the twins so she could take care of everything. She dropped off the twins and left explicit instructions not to allow Lucas to take them anywhere.

 During her drive she kept going over in her head how she would handle this. She prayed that he would help her because she had no one else that she trusted. She parked in the hospital lot and rested her head on the steering wheel, “Please God let this work.” She raised her head and took a deep breath, “Here goes nothing.”

 She approached EJ’s room and smiled at the guard. He nodded in return, “Go ahead, Mrs. Dimera.” She could hardly wrap her mind around her new name. She opened the door and found EJ in his bed shuffling through paperwork from Mythic. He hadn’t even noticed that she had entered the room. She cleared her throat to get his attention and he looked up and smiled. “Samantha! How are you darling?”

She smiled at him in return, “Well it’s good to see you so chipper. What’s got you in such a good mood?”

 ”Me? Why that’s all you darling! I feel like I finally have a reason to live. You and Gianni mean everything to me. I’m so glad that you came by.”

 She sat in a chair next to his bed, “EJ I really need to talk to you. I need your help.” His face turned dark with alarm and he cupped her face in his hand, “What is it sweetheart?”

 She felt the tears begin to spill onto her cheeks. She stifled back a sob, “It’s Lucas”

 He looked angry at the mention of Lucas’ name, “Tell me. What has he done now?” He moved his hand down to grasp hers and he held it tight. “He’s threatening to take Ali away from me.”

 ”He can’t do that. I won’t allow it”, he tipped her chin up with his finger, “He won’t be allowed to do this darling.”

Sami smiled and sighed deeply, “I was hoping you would say that. I was afraid you wouldn’t help me.”

 ”Why would you say that Samantha? I love you and I will never allow anyone to hurt you.” He pulled her hand to his lips and kissed it. “I would do anything for my wife.”

 She looked away, “After the way I’ve been acting these past few months I could certainly understand if you didn’t want to help.” He pulled her in close, “What do you want me to do sweetheart?”

 She leaned in and whispered in his ear. He eyes lit up with amusement, “That’s absolutely brilliant darling!”
