Chapter 22 (Updated 01.04.08)
The drive to the station seemed to take forever. The longer she thought about it the angrier she became. How could he be such a fool. It always came to Sami and she was sick and tired of it. She was going to give him a piece of her mind if it was the last thing she ever did.
She pulled into the station parking lot, did a quick makeup check, and made her way into the Salem Police Department. She didn’t try to hide her disgust when she was greeted by Bo before she could even get five feet into the station. “Bo I need to see my son.”
Bo flashed her a grin, “Sorry Kate, no can do.” Kate put her hands on her hips and rolled her eyes, “And whyever not?”
“Sorry Katie. Lucas is being prepped for his bond hearing.”
“This is absolutely ridiculous Bo. I insist on seeing him at once.” She was becoming angrier by the second.
Bo sat back in his chair watching Kate fidget. He almost hated to admit it but he was enjoying watching her squirm. Kate started muttering under her breath. “What’s that Katie?” he asked.
“I said. I need to speak with Lucas right now damn it!” She tapped her foot in frustration and glanced at her watch.
“Whoa there Katie. I think you need to settle down.”
“Settle down! Don’t you dare tell me to settle down! I’m here to give my son a piece of my mind. If he thinks I arranged all of this for nothing he has another thing coming. I hand him a daughter on a silver platter and this is how he repays me. By getting arrested for contempt of court!”
“Go on.” Bo said and he listened with intrigue, “How did you hand him his daughter.”
“I arranged for the paternity switch you imbecile.” She threw up her hands in disgust. She didn’t even realize what she just said until she saw Bo’s jaw drop. His eyes flashed with anger, “You did what!?” he yelled.
Kate’s heart sank into the pit of her stomach and she knew for a certainty that there was going to be hell to pay. Especially when Sami and EJ found out. She tried to backtrack and cover herself but it was too late. “Wait Bo. I can explain.”
Bo sprang up and grabbed his coat, “Oh Katie. I don’t think I am the one you need to explain to. Maybe you should think of what you are going to say to my niece or even better, how you are going to explain this to junior.” Fear swept over Kate’s body and she collapsed to the chair.
Bo motioned to the desk sergeant, “There’s something I need to take care of. If anyone needs me call my cell.” He rushed out of the station. He didn’t know how he was going to break the news to Sami. He knew that she would be furious and out for vengeance but it’s better that she learn the news from him rather than a stranger.
He pulled up to the apartment building and made his way to EJ’s apartment. He hesitated briefly and knocked on the door. He was surprised to see EJ answering the door, “Hey Junior. Great to see you up and around.” EJĀ sighed, “What can I do for you Bo?”
“Actually I have some news that you’ll want to hear. Is my niece around?”
Doh! Katie needs to learn when to keep her mouth shut. Oh wait, that’s what we all want. Ali is EJ’s daughter. You’d better still be writing, cause I can’t wait for his reaction. Anger or joy? What will it be?
Oh this just gets better and better
