EJ found Marlena cradling Samantha in her arms as she sobbed. Marlena looked up at him and shook her head, “She’s inconsolable.” EJ sat down next to Samantha and gently touched her leg. She sat up and looked at him with the tears still freely flowing down her face, “Did you find him? Did you find our baby EJ?” He couldn’t bear to see her this way. The look on his face gave it away. She knew that he hadn’t found Johnny. “Oh God. Where is my baby? My baby”, she wailed. He could do nothing but hold her in his arms as she cried. The tears now assailed his own eyes. Marlena sat there and for once didn’t know what to do to help.

Samantha cried herself to sleep and EJ carried her to the bedroom. He then went back out to the living room and offered to make Marlena some tea. She graciously accepted. They both sat at the table in silence. Marlena traced her fingers around the teacup and finally spoke, “Did you have any luck at your father’s?”

EJ sighed heavily, “No. Rolf was there and said that Father went on a trip and claims to not know anything about it. I don’t believe him.” Marlena sipped her tea, “What makes you say that?”

“Father hardly does anything that Rolf doesn’t know about. Marlena….I think father took Johnny.” Marlena gasped, “Why would he take your son from you?”

“Because I told him that Samantha and I would raise him as we saw fit and that he could only be with him under supervision.” He spun the teacup around on the saucer, “Father didn’t take that very well. He doesn’t like to be crossed.”

“You don’t have to tell me that, I know that better than anyone. EJ, I know what your father is capable of. God help Johnny if he has him.”

“I’m afraid my father is the one that took him.” He looked up at Marlena and she saw the determination and resolve, “I hope that we can count on you. Samantha is going to need your support. Especially if I’m going to go after my father.”

“Of course I will help both of you. But EJ,” She reached over and put her hand over his, “Do you think it’s wise to go after Stefano alone.”

“He won’t be alone.” They both looked up in surprise to see Samantha standing in the doorway of the bedroom.

“Samantha? I thought you were asleep.”

“I’m wide awake now. So when do we leave?” She was just as determined as her husband, maybe even more so.

“Darling, it’s not safe, you need to be here for Ali. I will take care of my father and bring our son home.”

“No! If Stefano took my son then by God I am going to take him back! No one is going to stop me, not even you EJ!”

“Sami!” cried Marlena, “EJ’s right. Think of Ali.”

“I am thinking of Ali. I’m going to bring her brother home!” She looked at EJ and he knew it was useless to talk her out of it.

“Pack some things for you and Ali. We will all leave in the morning.”

Marlena knew this was going to lead to trouble. She stood up and smoothed out her clothes, “Well I am going to go home and get some things because I am going with you.”
